We were kindly invited by the Opel Astra Coupe/OPC Club, to join them for some drag racing at Wesbank Raceway.

12 Audi's showed up, of which 10 competed  and 15 Opels, some of which looked really stunning. 

Of interest, for whoever was in doubt, the continuous debate as to which is faster (Audi S3/TT or Astra Coupé/OPC), has, at least over a quarter mile, being settled for the time being. Please note that the S3/165 (4CR40) is stock standard, however we are not sure at how standard is the Astra Coupé (4BF222)which came close to the S3. Nevertheless, both sides put up a great show.

It must be said, however, that, specially at the beginning, the track was slippery and benefited the Audi's with quattro traction, but then that is why many of us drive Audi Quattros . On the other hand the ambient temperature of around 10º C must have benefited everybody.

The Wesbank management had organised trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall. This was very nice of them, but it should have been trophies for the 4CR and 4BF classes only, as the 2 RS6's, as well the the 2 Opel Astra TS's dragsters were simply no match for any of the other participants.
