With
28 participants, this was one of the most attended club lunch so far.
Approximately 50% of the participants meet at 10.30 am at Jackson's Diner in
Bryanston, Johannesburg. There we met some new members, Mark Wainwright, Hilton
Cathcart, TJ Ferreira, Corrie
Barnardo
and Andrew Soddy. Unfortunately for Andrew, his Audi S2 decided that, this would
not be the day she was going to meet her younger sisters and would not start, so
Andrew had to leave the S2 home.
TJ
came with his flamboyant new A4 Cabriolet. It was also a pleasure to see one of
the founder club member, Des Brown, who was up here from Natal and whom we had
not seen for quite some time. Arno was, as usual the last to arrive, but then he
was driving his Mom's A4, as his
Audi
dealer had fitted the wrong ignition coils to his S3, making it
stationary.
By 12 something we left, to drive to Pretoria, in a convoy, which in view
of
the heavy traffic was not an easy task, but eventually we managed and as usual
it looked very impressive to see all those Audi's driving together. TJ, left the
convoy by the time we reached the Pietersburg Highway, as he could not make
lunch with us. We arrived at
Toula's
Taverna, where nearly most of the remainder of the members were waiting for us
as well a new member Dewalt Uys.
This time Arno, wasn't last, but Ryan and his lovely wife, who, the later
apparently "took a shine to André" as per Ryan's words. Now, club
members,
you are not allowed to question the Lady's good taste!....

As it is normally the case with our lunch meetings, the moment we all sat
down, conversation started to flow continuously. In fact I do not
recall
even 1/2 second of silence. Well, it works every time, put a few Audi
enthusiasts together and there isn't a dull moment.
Although it was very hot, the Restaurant was very nice. The food was
so,
so, but it actually did not matter, as we were all having a good time. We also
spent some time in the parking lot admiring our cars and in particular Leon's
new black S3 with black leather and blue Alcantara, which looks out this world
in a black car. Leon also managed to order
the
aluminium mirrors which came factory fitted, like those Des got in Europe for
his Nogaro Blue S3. I understand Leon's S3 has plenty extras, Bose sound,
armrest etc.... Leon also showed us some caps, polo shirts, jerseys and jackets
with the S3 logo. These will be available with either the S3, the S6 or any
other logo you fancy, at a later stage.
The
last to leave Toula's Taverna, left sometime after 5 pm.
Many thanks to Alan Sofer and Arno Gerber for organising this very successful
and enjoyable event. Many thanks as well to those who sent
e-mails
thanking us for organising this lunch, and thank you to all who participated.
Guys and gals, it was a real pleasure to spend these few hours with you.
The next event is coming soon! Meanwhile drive safely and enjoy your Audi's.
