ACSA Committee member Philip was on holidays in the Garden Route the third week of August 2002. He meet with ACSA member Stuart, who is at the moment the club's sole member in that region. Stuart has been very active on our discussion forum with some very interesting threads. Here is Philip's report
I went down to George last week
with my car. While I was there I popped in to see Stuart. He lives in one of the
most beautiful areas of this country on the Plet side of Knysna!

We had a nice chat over a couple of beers about
Audi's - Stuart is going to try water injection - if somebody can optimise the
ECU for that. It was good to meet a member who we don't get to see at club
meetings up here. I am sure we can get the Garden Route Chapter of the Audi Club
going strongly - I saw a black S3 in Knysna and there are apparently 2 S3's and
3 TT's in George. If they can all join they should be able to have nice club
meetings down there!
My car? I need 17% more power! It was absolutely magic at the coast running on
97 leaded - it just kept on revving and revving. Getting back here I felt
cheated - the car now seems slow!
The
trip up and down was great fun - less than 8:30 each time but in the rain most
of the way (I beat 8 hours last time in my A6 4.2) That is an average of just
short of 138 km/h - saw about 3 speed traps each way but NO tickets! My rule is
always to slow down 20 km outside any town and to only go really quick uphill -
has anybody ever seen a trap going uphill? Anyway I just ordered my Laser Echo
to be safe.
Now what do I do to get 17% more power except to move down to the coast? Of
course, if I have 17% more power - I will still get another 17% more at the
coast - an "unending loop" in computer speak?
