JACKSON'S DINER (afternoon)

&

OHSHO Restaurant (evening)

31 JANUARY 2004

JACKCON'S DINER

Although this meeting was announced only a few days ago, it turned out, if I am not mistaken, to be the most attended Audi Club of SA meeting, with no less than 30 Audi's. With, wifes, partners, friends, children and some of the Forum participants we were close to 60 people! Not bad for the first meeting of 2004.

Fortunately, when we first arrived, there wasn't a single car in Jackson's Diner's parking lot, and thus we were able to hi-jack the parking lot to make it an Audi parking only.

For those of you who did not make it, you missed a few great sites. 6 RS6's eventually tuned out. 2 Avus Silver, 2 Mugello Blue, 1 Daytona Grey and an Ebony Black Avant, 2700 bhp altogether!. A rare sight indeed, specially in South Africa, as this represents more or less 15% of all the RS6's which will eventually come to SA. Many of the members had never seen an RS6, never mind six of them together...

However that as not all that you missed. Brett Hudson of Audi Sandton came with a new Audi A8 4.2 (D3). As the new A8 is only due for introduction in March or April this year, for most of the attendants this was the first time they saw an A8. As the A8 came in everybody converged to the car to have a closer look. It is a magnificent vehicle.

But again, that's not all (sounds like a Verimark advert, doesn't it?), there were also 2 S4's, an Ebony Black and a Dolphin Grey, 7 S3's, Nogaro blue, Imola Yellow, Absolute Red, Black and 3 Silver's,  4 TT's, Glacier Blue, White and 2 Silver's, 4 A4's (B6) of which 2 were Avants and three were Silver,  and 2 Silver A4's (B5), a lonely, but nonetheless fast and beautiful, Denim Blue A3 1.8T, a Silver Ur S6, Philip Croeser's new acquisition, a Silver S2 Coupé with RS2 engine, gearbox, brakes and seats, which also drew a lot of attention and a Ebony Black Allroad (which arrived last!).

What an afternoon!, what a sight! For Audi fans, this was better than a great time, it was fantasy land!

It was also very nice to meet so many new faces. We hope you all felt welcome and had as much fun as we had. You may have noticed your Committee tried very hard to introduced themselves and talk to as many members as possible, and even had name tags on them.... Thanks Committee guys, you did a great job!

OHSHO RESTAURANT

After this brilliant afternoon, at around 7.30 pm, a few of us drove together to the Ohsho Restaurant in Rosebank. Due to the traffic, the togetherness did not last very long. But eventually everyone made it the restaurant, where we had great Japanese food and the good vibes of the afternoon were carried over.

A great Audi Club day! Many thanks to all of you who attended, you are the ones who actually made this event a very special club meeting indeed.

Many thanks to Andrew Stevens for oganising the Ohsho restaurant and to Nick Weinmann for taking some of the pictures.
