CHRISTMAS LUNCH

DA VINCENZO RESTAURANT

30 November 2003

It is no so much the quantity but the quality of the people you're with that matters. As usual with the Audi Club, the company was excellent and certainly made up for the somewhat poor attendance to this Christmas lunch. The poor attendance from Gauteng members to club events, other than the Kyalami day, is actually worrisome, specially considering the amount of work put up by the Committee members....

Nevertheless, it was very nice to meet again with "the regulars", Arno (A3 1.8T of note), Alan and his wife Alice (TT Coupé), Andrew (S3 & A6 2.4 - The fastest S3 around Phakisa!), Duncan, later joined by his girlfriend Christine (S3), Gerrit and his wife Heiltje and their cute little baby (S3), Julian (S3 - The quickest...when it works ) Philip and his wife Elna (S6 - Now the fastest Audi around Phakisa), Ryan and his wife "B" (TT Coupé & A4 (B6) 1.8T - who has an absolutely gorgeous cousin who got all the guys jaws drop on the floor and mine maybe more than others - she wasn't part of our lunch though ) Willem and his wife Jane (urS6 - with Avus wheels), and myself, André (S6 - which has now been beaten by Philip's S6 at Phakisa and therefore has no longer any claim to to fame other than being the shiniest car in the club.... and well ... still the quickest S6 at ODI and Swartkops ).

Other than the regulars, we were all pleased to meet Fausto (A3 1.8T Nogaro Blue) and see again Berthus (S3 Imola Yellow- a very fast one too).

The "da Vincenzo" restaurant is in Kyalami, a very large restaurant with plenty covered terraces. Typical Italian style and of course Italian food. The only snag is that their parking lot is bare sand, and I for one would never park there on a rainy day...

We all enjoyed ourselves very much until late afternoon.

Many thanks to Alan, for, as he always does, organising this event brilliantly.
