On a decidedly bleak and chilly winters morning the ACSA Dyno Day was by contrast a roaring success. Roaring is perhaps also an apt description of the sound
emanating from the Lamborghini’s of a club member. But more of that later.
To start, we had left our traditional haunt in Springs for the newly discovered Rightway Auto in Midrand which is a far more convenient
location for the majority of our members, myself excluded I might add. Much to my surprise the early birds (including the rather noisy diesel powered one
from the exotic land of the big hole) were soon met by BBM, who managed to arrive at the event on time in his new and very blue A4 DTM.
Things started moving with no sign of the later droves that would soon descend on us. The first few cars went onto the dyno, and results where pretty much
as expected with the Rightway Dyno proving to be a little more generous than the rather parsimonious Springs one. A certain A4 2.0T which has been at the
centre of a chipped/standard furor managed to produce only 2KW less at the wheels than it was supposed to at the flywheel. Apparently the owner was using
good fuel. Have no clue where he learned that excuse from.
The early champion in the KW stakes was the RS6 which sounded glorious as it thundered to a days best torque figure of 592NM ATW as well as a perfectly
respectable 259KW ATW. This started a trend towards some rather good results in many cars, including The Chains own A3T, which was by far the most bling car
in attendance, as was to be expected.
